 We currently have three (3) vacancies available for immediate filling at the WA Maritime Museum and WA Shipwrecks Museum, Fremantle:

1 x Permanent Full-time vacancy (1.0FTE or 76 hrs/fortnight); and 2 x Permanent Part-time vacancies (0.5FTE or 38 hrs/fortnight).

A Pool will also be running for a period of 12 months.

About the role

The Visitor Services Officers (VSOs) provide a welcoming environment and high-quality experience for WA Museum visitors. The VSOs help to ensure the safety of visitors and staff within the Museum, as well as the security of the Museum Collection.

Selection Methodology

A variety of assessment methodologies may be used throughout the recruitment process, including:

  • Interview
  • Skills Assessment
  • Aptitude testing
  • Psychometric testing
  • Referee Checks

Eligibility to Apply

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid Work Visa (for fixed term appointments), or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.

A current (within six (6) months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.

We also require the following for this role:

  • A valid Working with Children Check (or receipt of applicaition).

Special Conditions

Requirement to work a roster including weekends and evening shifts (applicable penalties apply).

Pool Recruitment

This Pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Casual, fixed term, full-time, part-time and permanent appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.

Applicants found suitable in this Pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies with the WA Museum and the Department of Cultural Industries, Tourism, and Sport (CITS) for the duration of the Pool.
