Position Profile: The Nurse Practitioner
provides expert knowledge and high-level clinical service in
collaboration with other health professionals to diagnose, treat
and manage a patient’s health status in accordance with National
legislation and regulation. The Nurse Practitioner works
autonomously to perform advanced physical assessments, request and
interpret diagnostic and/or screening investigations, initiate and
manage complex healthcare requirements, initiate referrals to
relevant health providers, and prescribe appropriate medications
and other therapies. The Nurse Practitioner provides clinical
leadership as appropriate and is responsible for developing
standards of practice, initiating research, leading quality
improvement activities, and implementing changes to clinical
practice. The Nurse Practitioner practices at an advanced level
within their scope of practice considerate of the Nursing and
Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Nurse Practitioner standards
for practice and is accountable for all care instigated and
provided. The Child and Adolescent Health Service
(CAHS) is proud to be the leading service provider for
paediatric healthcare in Western Australia, as the State’s only
dedicated health service for infants, children and young people.
CAHS is made up four service areas: Neonatology, Community Health,
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), and Perth
Children’s Hospital (PCH). Consisting of over 6,500 employees, our
services are delivered at PCH and King Edward Memorial Hospital
(KEMH), as well as across a network of more than 160 community
clinics across the metropolitan area.
