Are you interested in becoming a direct employee of Main Road Western Australia? We are looking for Bridge Inspection Workers and Senior Bridge Inspection Workers to join our Perth based team on a permanent basis working at various locations within the state. 

Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll work on the network to deliver Bridge inspections across the state to ensure a safe and efficient road network. We’re looking for Bridge Inspection Workers with knowledge and experience in:

  • Basic asset inspection techniques
  • Reading, interpreting and writing technical documents with an attention to detail
  • Using hand and power tools
  • Operating access equipment safely (Under Bridge Inspection Units, Elevated Work Platforms, Small boat, Cherry pickers, etc.)
  • Working in a close-knit team with limited supervision
  • Following all safety guidelines and work as part of a team to complete projects on time

Do you have solid experience in Bridge Inspection, along with a track record of leading teams, managing sites or overseeing daily operations? We’re also recruiting for Senior Bridge Inspection Workers who:

  • Have experience in Timber Bridge inspections
  • Can lead a small team
  • Can plan and coordinate work on site
  • Demonstrate a high safety and quality culture and standard
  • Can lead, mentor, and support team development

Senior Bridge Inspection Worker and Bridge Inspection Worker both need to have both physical and technical abilities. Some plant and equipment used by Main Roads have weight recommendations and/or safe workload ratings ranging between 120kg and 150kg. What We Offer

In addition to our competitive salary and 12% superannuation, some of the benefits to working with Main Roads include:

  • Bridge Inspection Worker hourly rate ranges from $39.54 - $43.46 per hour depending on relevant experience, plus superannuation
  • Senior Bridge Inspection Worker hourly rate ranges from $44.90 - $48.39 per hour depending on relevant experience, plus superannuation
  • Your starting hourly rate depends on your relevant experience and will increase by a further 3.5% on 1 February 2026.
  • The Senior Bridge Inspection Worker and Bridge Inspection Worker are currently rostered on a 8 days on / 6 days off roster. The roster includes overtime.
  • Some of the overtime worked is used for time off in lieu as required by the roster.
  • The first two hours of Overtime is paid at time and a half and double time after that.
  • Based on this amount of Overtime, Bridge Inspection Worker gross income is expected to exceed $105,000 per annum and Senior Bridge Inspection Worker $119,000 per annum.
  • When travelling, employees can claim meal allowances and incidental of up to $92
  • An Overnight Travel Allowance of $45 per night
  • An industry allowance of $77.40 per fortnight (gross rate)
  • A laundry allowances of $7.30 per fortnight (not payable on leave)
  • A mobile phone for work use (limited private use is also permitted).
  • A minimum of 4 weeks annual leave, 10 public holidays, 3 additional public service holidays and 13 weeks long service leave after 7 years continuous service
  • Annual Leave Loading of 17.5% paid in December each year.

The gross annual income provided is based on the current 8 days on 6 days off roster worked Monday to Sunday, with anticipated overtime included. Please note that, as overtime hours and rosters may vary, this is subject to fluctuation and may change accordingly.   The roster and any applicable allowances will be confirmed with the successful applicant prior to commencement of employment.
