People and businesses rely on our roads to get to work, home and around Western Australia.

As the WA State Government Agency responsible for safely managing the State’s Road network, Main Roads Western Australia is committed to connecting people and places by delivering integrated and intelligent transport systems and services and providing safer roads and better journeys for our customers.

With a rich history dating back to 1926 and an exciting future ahead, Main Roads is not just about roads. It’s also about people.

Our services are delivered through the dedicated efforts of our talented, passionate, and dynamic employees, who are located in regional and metropolitan offices throughout the State.

About the Role

The Metropolitan Region is responsible for planning and delivering road asset management, network operations, and minor construction and maintenance activities.

We are currently seeking two (2) Maintenance Crew and Depot Managers; one based at our Jandakot Depot and the other, at our Hazelmere Depot. These roles play a vital part in delivering routine road maintenance across the region. As a manager, you will lead a team of supervisors and road maintenance crew to ensure works are delivered in line with Main Roads’ Construction and Maintenance Standards. You will also be responsible for managing maintenance resources to deliver the regional works program, while maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Your background in road maintenance and proven people management skills will be essential to succeed in this role. You will be able to demonstrate experience in directly managing staff, driving team performance, and fostering a positive and productive workplace culture. Your leadership will ensure your team meets project outcomes on time and within budget.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in planning road maintenance on a large, complex metropolitan network
  • Experience in managing employee behaviour, performance, and development
  • Knowledge of works procurement practices and processes

If you're looking to grow both personally and professionally while building a meaningful career, consider joining Main Roads Western Australia. If you have the skills and experience we’re looking for, we encourage you to apply.

What We Offer

At Main Roads, you can have a challenging, flexible, and rewarding career that takes you exactly where you want to go with an organisation that supports a healthy work-life balance to help with what is important to you.

In addition to our competitive salary and 12% superannuation, some of the benefits of working with Main Roads include:

  • 40 hour week
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Health and wellbeing focus.
