About the WA Virtual
Emergency Department (WAVED)
The WA Virtual Emergency
Department (WAVED) is an initiative managed by the State Health
Operations Centre (SHOC) providing opportunity to give patients the
option of being seen virtually in the comfort of their own home
when safe and appropriate to do so, rather than waiting in an
emergency department (ED). The overarching aim of WAVED is to
improve access to care and provide treatment options that achieve
equally good or better patient outcomes without the need to
physically visit and Emergency Department. WAVED partners with
multiple other agencies to help deliver the care the patient
requires.
Following its commencement
in late 2023, WAVED is being progressively expanded to make it more
widely available to a broader patient cohort.
