The Strategy and Governance
Division (SGD) is responsible for the systemwide governance,
strategy, policy and planning functions of the system manager and
supports in the management and delivery of key government
priorities. It oversees and contributes to key functions for
the Department of Health (Department) and WA health system
including Sustainable Health Review Implementation,
Intergovernmental Relations, Aged Care and Community Programs,
Strategic Social Health Policy initiatives, ICT related projects,
legal, and industrial relations matters.
The Office of the Deputy
Director General provides administrative and operational support to
the Deputy Director General and facilitates Ministerial and
Departmental matters to, and on behalf of the Division.

Position
Profile: We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced
Principal Program Officer to join the Office of the Deputy Director
General (ODDG), SGD team.
In this role, you
will:
- Work as
part of a small team to ensure the efficient daily operations
of the ODDG. You will help ensure that all communications and
correspondence delivered through the ODDG are of high
quality.
- Undertake a strategic
coordination role on behalf of the division in response to
requests from the Minister for Health, Minister for Aged Care
and Seniors, and the Director General – and provide
advice and support to the Executive team and Division in these
matters.
- Have a
Ministerial focus – including drafting, reviewing and
coordinating papers, submissions, briefings, and Ministerial
correspondence.
- Be
proactive and employ initiative to anticipate needs and
challenges, take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision
and provide effective solutions.
- Build
and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders,
working consultatively and fostering a collaborative approach
across SGD, the Department of Health and WA health system more
widely to facilitate delivery of quality outcomes coordinate
divisional reporting to ensure the key objectives of the
division and Department of Health continue to be
met.
- Contribute to
operational and business planning for the ODDG, and identify
opportunities to improve Divisional administrative processes,
and play a leading role in their development and
implementation.
- Provide
support to the Deputy Director General as required, including
coordination and preparation of correspondence and
presentations, and undertaking research and projects as
requested by the Deputy Director General.
Eligibility to
Apply: To be eligible for
appointment, applicants must have a valid workingvisa (for fixed
term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident,
or have avisa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for
permanent appointments).
Other
Conditions: WA Health engages staff in positions of trust
and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to
undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part
of the appointment process. Referees may also be asked to comment
on an applicant’s integrity and past demonstration of ethical
behaviour.
Whilst this selection
process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may
also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the
health service. In addition to this, should the successful
applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next
most suitable applicant may also be selected from this
process.
Both options remain valid
for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised
delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
