About the role

Under the limited direction of the Manager Fremantle Museums, this position:

  • Provides leadership and direction through applying and monitoring human and physical resources to the site’s daily operations.
  • Manages the site buildings and spaces in liaison with the Manager Fremantle Museums and CITS Asset Management and ICT teams.
  • Develops and maintains operational networks and systems through effective liaison with visitors, stakeholders, community and special interest groups and promotes community support for the organisation’s goals and strategies.
  • Supports the site’s visitor-oriented experiences including all site programs both onsite and events, outreach, marketing and online services.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual who has experience leading effective teams and enjoys a challenge. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be flexible, show initiative, and respond quickly to problems when situations change.  

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Manage the daily Visitor Services operations of the sites through effective leadership, resources management, planning and evaluation.
  • Manage the sites building and spaces, including understanding the impact of exhibition and building maintenance scheduling on the site’s daily visitor operations and services.
  • Ensure the security of the Fremantle Museum’s collections on site and observe Fremantle Museum’s Conservation standards for collections care.
  • Contribute to the site’s visitor-oriented experiences, including ensuring the effective delivery of exhibitions, public and education programs, events, outreach, marketing and online services.
  • Contributes to the development of the Site’s operational plans, projects and associated budgets.

Eligibility to Apply

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid Work Visa (for fixed term appointments), or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.

A current (within six (6) months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.

We also require the following:

  • Work outside normal business hours and on weekends is required.

Pool Recruitment

This Pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time, and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.

Applicants found suitable in this Pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies with the WA Museum and the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport for the duration of the Pool.
