to lead, build and shape the future of the Western Australian
health system.
The Department of Health is
responsible for the overall strategic direction, management and
performance of the Western Australian (WA) public health system to
ensure the delivery of high-quality, sustainable, safe and timely
health services.
The WA public health system
employs approximately 55,000 dedicated staff who ensure the health
and wellbeing of the State’s population throughout the
metropolitan, regional and remote areas of WA. The WA health system
as a single health entity covers an area covering approximately 2.5
million square kilometres.
The foundations that
underpin essential services to the community include supporting our
workforce; robust standards for the delivery of high-quality and
safe care, and optimal patient and community experience; sound
financial management and clinical performance; supporting our
workforce; infrastructure; and information and communications
technology (ICT) delivery; and supporting and enhancing research
and innovation.
The Health Infrastructure
Directorate provides planning, management, oversight and quality
assurance of ongoing infrastructure functions for the system, to
support the healthcare needs of WA communities. Key functions
include systemwide planning and reporting, project delivery,
managing state-wide programs and projects, policy and governance
and stakeholder liaison and assurance.
What roles are
available?
The Health Infrastructure
Directorate has three roles for immediate filling from this
pool. This process may be used to fill future similar
positions that may arise within the Department of Health and across
the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the
conclusion of this process.
We are looking for
experienced leaders who are passionate about making an impact and
influencing outcomes. We seek candidates adept at providing
strategic advice to Ministers, the Director General, Senior
Executive, Health Service Providers and other Government
agencies.
Director Planning
and Reporting (Position No. 00015550)
The Director, Planning and
Reporting performs a key leadership and stewardship role by
overseeing and supporting the development and implementation of
infrastructure, land and property strategy, plan and program to
enable the WA health system to achieve and deliver upon its short
to long term priorities. The Director oversees the development and
performance of the WA health system’s Asset Investment
Program as well as management and monitoring of finance and
purchasing, grants and market-led proposals.
Director Project
Delivery (Position No. 00020799)
The Director, Project
Delivery performs a key leadership and stewardship role by
overseeing and supporting the development and implementation of the
WA health system Capital Works Program, including state-wide
projects and programs to enable the WA health system to achieve and
deliver upon its short to long term priorities. The Director
oversees the allocation of funds for state-wide projects and
programs including the medical equipment program, minor capital
works program and other WA health system programs.
Director Portfolio
Oversight (Position No. 00020800)
The Director, Portfolio
Oversight provides strategic leadership in the design and
implementation of an assurance framework for the delivery of
complex and highly sensitive projects across the WA health system.
The Director leads liaison with the Office of Major Infrastructure
Delivery (OMID) and provides the Department of Health’s
liaison point with Health Service Providers on major projects being
delivered through OMID.

Eligibility to
Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants must
have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an

work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent
appointments).

Conditions: WA Health engages staff in positions of trust
and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to
undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part
of the appointment process. Referees may also be asked to comment
on an applicant’s integrity and past demonstration of ethical
behaviour.

placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar
vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31
December 2026.
