About the
Position
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to
join our dynamic team of Medical Imaging Nurses at Perth
Children’s Hospital (PCH).
As a Registered Nurse, reporting to the
Clinical Nurse Manager, you will enjoy an autonomous role in which
you will work closely with radiographers and radiologists within
Medical Imaging Department and the operating theatre. You
will also be working with other health professionals to conduct
procedures as required for inpatients, outpatients and/or the
emergency department.
Your role will involve:
- Working in the roles of scrub and scout nurse for a wide
variety of interventional radiology, neuroradiology, and
cardiac catheter procedures
- Preparing patients for procedures such as through patient
positioning and assisting the interventional proceduralist with
equipment selection and preparation,
- Working closely with the radiographer to ensure the comfort
and safety of the patient,
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and
evidence-based practice to enhance the care provided to
paediatric patients.
- Advocating for patient needs and educating patients and
their families about procedures, and care to promote
understanding and confidence.

Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for registration in the category
of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of
Australia.
Recent experience in Medical Imaging, Interventional radiology,
or Cardiac catheter lab setting is desirable.
Applicants with relevant experience in adult care will be
provided the opportunity for clinical support and education to
enable a smooth transition into the paediatric practice
environment.
About the
Team
Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, the Medical
Imaging Department provides services for children from
birth to 16 years, supporting inpatients, outpatients, and the
Emergency Department.
Our services include a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging
and specialised procedures such as interventional radiology,
neuroradiology, paediatric cardiac catheterisation, vascular
access, awake procedures, and routine medical imaging including
X-ray and CT. We also perform fluoroscopy, CT bronchoscopy,
biopsies, cannulation, and drain insertions.
With state-of-the-art equipment designed specifically for
infants and children, we deliver care in an environment that helps
patients and their families feel safe and supported. Our focus is
on achieving the highest quality imaging outcomes while ensuring a
compassionate, child-friendly experience.
