About the Role
We are committed to responsible environmental management of the road network. Main Roads’ Environment and Heritage Branch provides leadership that drives corporate environmental and heritage performance.
The Branch works closely with Main Roads’ project development, delivery, regional and metropolitan branches to undertake environmental impact assessments, obtain approvals and ensure environmental management meets legislative requirements and organisational objectives.
We are seeking three (3) experienced senior specialists to drive environmental performance and approvals across our network:
- Two roles are based in Perth, with some regional travel required.
- One role based in our South West Regional Office in Bunbury with some regional travel required.
As one of the occupants of these roles, you will:
- Lead and manage environmental assessment and approvals for our projects
- Provide expert advice to one or more regions and ensure compliance with corporate and statutory environmental requirements.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with regulators and external stakeholders and provide guidance to internal stakeholders
- Contribute to improved business practices to facilitate the successful delivery of our business and help drive our environment performance across the state.
About You
As a passionate and qualified Environmental professional, you will possess substantial skill, knowledge and experience in environmental assessment, approval and management, and will have demonstrated experience in the application of State and Federal legislation relating to environmental issues and processes. Experience in environmental management, assessment and approvals for linear infrastructure would be highly regarded.

As a Senior Environment Officer, you will cultivate proactive and collaborative relationships with internal teams, government agencies, contractors, and other key stakeholders. Your leadership in project and contract management will ensure efficient resource allocation, team coordination, and consistent delivery of environmental obligations.
You hold a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
