About the opportunity:
The Principal Electrical and ITS Technology Engineer provides expert leadership for Main Roads’ Electrical and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) assets across the State. The role acts as a subject matter expert, ensuring Electrical and ITS assets are designed, tested, commissioned and transitioned in line with Main Roads standards and specifications.
As the Principal Electrical and ITS Technology Engineer, some of your key responsibilities will include:
- developing asset management technical procedures, processes and O&M guidelines to support long-term asset performance and reliability,
- leading innovation and trials of new technologies,
- driving improvements in reliability, fault management and data-driven decision making,
- ensuring cybersecurity and sustainability practices are embedded,
- building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and,
- leading, managing and developing the technical knowledge of associated electrical and ITS engineers.
This is a strategic and hands-on role supporting technical advancement and operational excellence of Main Roads’ Electrical and ITS infrastructure.

- Defining engineering requirements into service documentation and manuals for electrical and ITS assets
- Electrical and ITS applications, solutions and data systems
- Standards, regulations and best practices in the field of electrical and ITS Technology
- A copy of your Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering, or Systems Engineering.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a National Police Clearance and pre-employment medical questionnaire as part of this recruitment process.
