About The Role
We currently have opportunities available in our Graduate Spatial Science Program to offer recent graduates who have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or related discipline.
Applications will also be considered from current students who will be completing their degree by December 2025 for our 2026 intake.
This is a three-year rotational program, providing practical learning experiences in a range of specialist areas. The rotations are based on your strengths, skills, and interest within business needs.
Our Asset and Geospatial Information (AGI) team co-ordinates corporate road data and manages information system needs, responsible for the procurement, storage and provision of corporate road asset, network information and essential transport models. The team also provides technical expertise and advice in engineering and mapping surveying, geospatial technologies, geodesy, data management and contextual geographical information.
Depending on your skills, strengths, and interests, you will spend time on rotation in some of the following areas:
- Engineering Surveying
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Project Management
- Asset and Geospatial Information
- Data Planning and Standards
- Cadastral and Surveying

To be considered for our Graduate Spatial Science Program, you must:
- Be a recent university graduate (within 3 years from completion of your Bachelor’s degree) or have your degree completed by December 2025 for our 2026 intake.
- Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Be motivated to work at Main Roads, demonstrated through your strengths and personal attributes
- Have a career interest in learning and work with data
- Have strong problem solving skills, including embracing change and challenge
- Be great at working together in teams
- Be able to build relationships with stakeholders
Please submit the following documentation in your application:
- A copy of your completed Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying or related discipline and your academic transcript. If you are completing your degree this year, please submit your most recent academic results. Overseas qualifications will need to be accompanied with confirmation of Australian equivalency.
- Your current CV
- A copy of your current WA motor vehicle (car) Driver’s Licence (or approved equivalent)
- Proof of Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
- A cover letter of no more than 2 pages outlining why you are interested in working for the Main Roads Graduate Spatial Science Program, and how you demonstrate the following qualities:
- When you have worked in a team environment creating successful outcomes
- Used your communication skills through work, university or other areas to clearly explain a situation or task.
- Ability to solve a problem or problems in a workplace, university or other areas you have experienced.
