We currently have positions based in Jandakot and Neerabup, some of which, will be relocated to Hazelmere when our brand new depot opens in 2026!
Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll work on the network to inspect maintain and improve both new and existing assets to provide your community with a safe and efficient road network. We’re looking for people who can:
- Lead crews in the maintenance of both on and off road assets including, road signs, drainage, barriers, vegetation, litter and graffiti.
- Operate construction equipment safely (e.g.skid steer, roller, excavator, flocon,etc).
- Direct traffic safely around construction sites.
- Follow all safety guidelines and work as part of a team to complete projects on time.
Our Senior Road Workers play a critical leadership role, managing sites and overseeing daily operations. In addition to the above, to be successful in this role, you must demonstrate experience in:
- Supervising crews
- Planning and coordinating work on site
- Maintaining high safety and quality standards
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting team development

In addition to our competitive salary and 12% superannuation, our remuneration package reflects the following:
- Senior Road Workers base hourly rate ranges from $44.90 - $48.39 (depending on relevant experience)
- Your salary will increase by a further 3.5% on 1 February 2026.
- Senior Road Workers work a 9 shift fortnight with the shift pattern covering dayshift Monday to Friday and nightshift Sunday to Thursday with one RDO.
- As a permanent employee of Main Roads, you will accrue a minimum of 4 weeks annual leave, 10 public holidays, 3 additional public service holidays and 15 days personal leave per annum. You are also entitled to 13 weeks long service leave after 7 years continuous service.
- Annual Leave Loading of 17.5% is paid in December each year.
