Temporary Employment Register - Firearms Act Reform Program (FARP)

WHY WE NEED YOU

The WA Police Force often have short term vacancies while our employees take periods of leave, are deployed elsewhere in the department or are seconded to other agencies within the public sector. In addition to this, we also regularly need people to work on projects with funding for a finite period or to meet the short term needs of a branch when workload is high.

Depending on the business needs for the branch, we often require full-time and part-time staff for periods of up to twelve (12) months.

ABOUT THE FIREARMS ACT REFORM PROGRAM SHORT-TERM OPPORTUNITIES

The Western Australia Police Force is responsible for policing the world's largest single police jurisdiction, covering Western Australia's 2.5 million square kilometres.

The Firearms Reform Division is responsible for the implementation of the Government’s commitment to improve community safety through the regulation of firearms within Western Australia.

The Firearms Act Reform Program (FARP) aims to reform legislation, provide an IT solution for compliance with the new Firearms Act 2024 (The Act), and manage related change across the Agency. The Program runs several concurrent work streams to support the WA Government’s implementation of the Act.

The Act and Firearms Regulations 2024 took effect on 31 March 2025, alongside the launch of the WA Police Force Firearms Portal. They introduce a new licensing scheme, strengthen controls over firearm possession, sale, storage, and use, restrict access for disqualified individuals, and increase penalties for unauthorised firearm activities.

As part of the FARP team, you will provide important information and advice to the public and WA Police Force personnel on firearms licensing enquiries.

Customer Service experience would be beneficial; however, it is not essential.  If we can see that you have the potential to develop, we would love to see you apply.

Opportunities within the FARP Team are located at Cannington and East Perth.

HOW TO APPLY

To register, you will be required to complete an online application, attach your Curriculum Vitae (CV) and attach a completed, signed copy of the Integrity Check Consent Form.

After lodging your CV and Integrity Check Consent Form, we will actively monitor the register and if an appropriate vacancy arises, you may be contacted to attend an informal interview.

To ensure currency, your CV will remain active on our temporary register for three months, after which time, you will need to reapply if you are still available.
