Making Every Moment Matter: The Western Australian Child and Adolescent Health Service is proud to invite you to register your interest in joining our hospice team at Sandcastles Children’s Hospice (Boodja Mia), due to commence operations mid 2026. This purpose-built, world-class paediatric hospice, located on the stunning Western Australian coast, offers statewide specialist paediatric palliative care services for children and young people (0–18 years) who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families.

Working in collaboration with the Specialist Paediatric Palliative Care Service at Perth Children’s Hospital, our dedicated team supports families from across the state through every stage of their journey – from diagnosis through life, death, and bereavement – within a peaceful, home-like setting that prioritises comfort, dignity and connection.

We are committed to placing the needs of children, young people, and their families at the centre of everything we do. More than just a place of care, Sandcastles (Boodja Mia) will offer families space to breathe, reflect, and be supported during some of the most challenging times in their lives.  Our services will include:

  • Medically supported respite, emergency symptom management, and end-of-life care in a warm, calming environment
  • Symptom management addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs
  • End of life care
  • After-death and bereavement care, including a bereavement suite for the child and family to access for up to seven days post death and long-term grief and counselling support
  • Sibling and family support, with opportunities for peer connection and emotional care
