Criminal Law Division 

This pool recruitment process will be used to fill permanent, fixed term, full time and part time vacancies that may arise over a period of 12 months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process. Fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency.

About the role

This role provides criminal law services in relation to matters involving factual and legal complexity, as well as supervision and mentoring for junior lawyers, paralegals, and volunteers. You may be asked to focus on project work (such as early resolution or Criminal Law Mentally Impaired Accused matters); lead the delivery of duty lawyer and casework services in a particular location within the Perth metropolitan or Wheatbelt region; or lead a team of lawyers and support staff.

About you

If you have considerable post admission experience, a proven ability to work autonomously, you can efficiently and effectively conduct trial litigation, you have advanced advocacy experience including the proven ability to effectively undertake cases of factual and legal difficulty and have a demonstrated commitment to Legal Aid WA core values including a commitment to teamwork and developing junior staff, then you should consider applying.
