About
the ACRT:
CAMHS is set
to transform its services in line with ICA
Taskforce recommendations. The ACRT is a new service
model, arising from the ICA Taskforce. The team will provide a step
up in intensity of service to children and adolescents experiencing
a crisis or deterioration in their mental health. This will include
crisis response, acute assessments, safety planning short-term
interventions, supporting the young person and their family to the
most appropriate destination post ACRT involvement. Care will be
provided close to home in a community settings, reducing the need
for hospital presentations.
As mental
health conditions can deeply impact the emotional and social
well-being of children and their families, our holistic and
child-centered approach is designed to assist families and is
focused on participation and
engagement.
As a
clinician on the team, you’ll be required to conduct home and
community visits during business hours and out of hours on a
rostered basis, including after hours and on weekends, based on
operational needs. You’ll be part of a team that prioritises
patient and staff safety and receive training and ongoing
supervision as part of your role.

About
the Role:
As
a Senior Health Professional, Mental
Health on the ACRTs, you’ll work within a
multidisciplinary team to provide complex patient care in
community-based settings to children, adolescents and their
families. This includes assessments, crisis intervention, treatment
and referral, as well as participating in interdisciplinary case
conferences and clinical team meetings. You will also participate
in ongoing evaluation of clinical practice, quality, management
programs and quality improvement activities for ACRT model of
care.
What
you will bring:
- Extensive experience
implementing therapeutic techniques with children, adolescents
(and their families) who have acute emotional, behavioural,
psychological and psychiatric disorders
- Experience working in a
community setting is valuable
- Demonstrated
understanding of issues affecting culturally and linguistically
diverse (CaLD) populations is desirable
- Flexibility and
adaptability to be a part of operationalizing a dynamic new
service
- Ability
to work collaboratively across internal and external teams,
services and stakeholders
Tertiary
qualifications in psychology, social work, occupational therapy,
nursing, or other related field; and eligibility for registration
with the relevant Registration Board of Australia, and specifically
for Social Work - full membership of the Australian Association of
Social Workers or the Society of Professional Social
Workers.

our CAMHS Directorates
-
Community CAMHS– Community CAMHS
offers mental health assessment and multidisciplinary
intervention for children and young people up to the age of 18
years.

Specialist Services and Day
Programs– The Specialist Services and Day
Programs consists of Complex Attention and Hyperactivity
Disorder Service, Multisystemic Therapy, Pathways and
Touchstone. These programs support children and young people
who have complex mental health needs.

Acute CAMHS– Acute CAMHS, based at
Perth Children’s Hospital has a mental health inpatient
unit (Ward 5A), Paediatric Psychiatric Inpatient In-Reach Team
(PPIRT), Eating Disorder Service and Gender Diversity
Service.
