The Commission is working towards a modern, effective mental health, alcohol and other drug system that places the individual and their recovery at the centre of its focus.

About you

We are seeking enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated individuals for our Graduate Program, who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the mental health, alcohol and other drug services sector to support the wellbeing of the Western Australian community.

You are someone who thrives in collaborative environments, is eager to learn and ready to contribute fresh perspectives to help shape mental health and alcohol and other drug policies, programs, and services in Western Australia. You demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills, a commitment to continuous improvement and have a genuine interest in working in the Public Sector.

Applications are open to those that have graduated with a tertiary qualification in 2024 or will complete their qualification by the end of 2025. Graduates from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

As part of our commitment to increasing youth representation in our workforce, this program is open to applicants who will be 24 years old or under as of February 2026, in accordance with Section 66ZP of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).

About the role

Our graduate program runs for 18-months with three rotations across our Divisional areas where you will be given the opportunity to contribute to challenging projects, to help with the transformation required across the mental health, alcohol and other drug services system.

The Graduate Development Program is a structured program that will give you the opportunity to make a real impact while developing your skills and building a strong foundation for a career in the public sector. The rotations will be for 6 months and are designed to provide you with a well-rounded experience, allowing you to contribute to meaningful work in areas such as policy development, program delivery, stakeholder engagement, research and evaluation, and corporate operations. You’ll gain valuable insights into how the Commission works to support and improve mental health outcomes across Western Australia.

  • Permanent residency visa

You will be assessed against the selection criteria of the position, as outlined in the JDF. 
The recruitment process may include online written assessments, psychometric, cognitive, or other testing, job-related tasks, video or live stream interviews, documentation and reference checks or other assessment methodologies as required.
