About The Role:

The Principal Revenue Officer leads a dynamic team within RevenueWA, driving operational excellence and fostering a high-performing, customer-focused culture. This role is pivotal in managing day-to-day branch operations, mentoring staff, and ensuring the delivery of quality customer service. You will be responsible for coaching and developing officers and implementing continuous improvement strategies to enhance team capability and service delivery. Your leadership will be instrumental in aligning the branch’s activities with broader business goals and cultivating a values-led, innovative workplace.

The role also plays a critical part in administering State taxes, including the registration, assessment, and collection processes. You will provide expert advice to senior management, contribute to policy and legislative development, and manage complex stakeholder communications such as ministerial correspondence and parliamentary inquiries. With a strong focus on compliance and service improvement, you will lead initiatives that support operational planning, customer engagement, and the resolution of taxation issues, ensuring RevenueWA meets its strategic and performance objectives.

About You:

The ideal applicant for the Principal Revenue Officer role is a values-driven leader with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. You will have the ability to guide others through complex operational and legislative challenges, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture, and be passionate about building capability, driving performance, and modelling the Department of Finance values.

You will bring a strong ability to interpret and apply legislation to complex scenarios that allow you to identify revenue administration issues, and contribute to legislative and policy improvement. A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering quality customer service is essential, along with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process enhancements that support operational excellence and strategic outcomes.

This position operates in the context of Leading Others. This means that you will motivate and enable others to deliver high quality work. You will balance time between doing the work and coaching, guiding and developing others. This requires a significant shift in thinking from ‘doing’ to supporting others to ‘do good work’; and consideration of present and future needs when allocating time to the team and projects you lead. You will articulate how work is to be done, providing clear direction and feedback.

How to Apply:

If you have what it takes to be part of our dynamic and forward-thinking team, submit the following in MS Word or PDF format only:

1. A comprehensive CV that shows your skills, experiences and key achievements, including the contact details of two referees (with one being your current or most recent supervisor).

2. Cover letter of two (2) pages or less, outlining how you meet the requirements of the role and demonstrate leadership behaviours and alignment to our Values.

You will need to demonstrate your alignment to Finance’s Values throughout the process to be considered suitable.

Please ensure you apply before the closing deadline as we won’t accept late and incomplete applications.
