About the role
This role presents an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the young people in the Geraldton community.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced professional with a commitment to social justice to contribute to the delivery of the new Legal Aid Youth Bail Service, Geraldton. This new service assists children aged 10 to 18 involved in the criminal justice system to access practical supports to improve their chances of being granted bail and to help them comply with their bail conditions and stay out of trouble while they are on bail.
The Youth Bail Support Worker will provide services and ongoing support to young clients including case management, home visits, transport, therapeutic interventions, referrals, community engagement and practical assistance to help them to meet the requirements of bail conditions and to promote their wellbeing and stability in the community.
They will also contribute to the development of this new service by engaging with the local community and building working relationships with likeminded organisations in the local area.
About you
The role is best suited to a mature professional who has experience working with people who have experienced housing instability, family breakdown, substance abuse, domestic violence, disability and mental health issues. The ideal candidate will also have a strong connection to the Geraldton community and knowledge of local youth services. A social work qualification is not essential, but is highly regarded.
