About
the Role
We are seeking a Clinical
Nurse Consultant – Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) to
join our team and provide expert clinical leadership across our
non-hospital environments (the Child and Adolescent Community
Health and Child and Adolescent Mental Health
community-based Services).
Reporting to the Coordinator
of Nursing Infection Prevention and Control, you will work
collaboratively with the clinical teams who are delivering care to
children, adolescents and neonatal patients in diverse settings
such as schools, homes, clinics, and aboriginal and community
health centres. You will contribute to service planning, drive
compliance with infection prevention protocols, and lead the
implementation of safe, adaptable, evidence-based, and
client-centred IPC measures in varied community
environments.
Your ability to collaborate
with healthcare professionals in the implementation of best
practice and respond to the needs of both clinicians and vulnerable
paediatric populations—will be highly regarded.
Your key responsibilities
include:
- Leading
the development and implementation of IPC policies, and
risk-based strategies tailored to dynamic and
lower-surveillance community health settings.
- Driving
education programs, evaluation, and staff engagement around
safe practices
- Working
in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and external
providers to support best practices in IPC.
- Influencing and guiding
clinical practices through consultancy, mentoring, and
evidence-based recommendations.
- Driving
quality improvement, innovation, and compliance with national
safety and quality standards.
- Applying
innovation to complex scenarios where risk factors differ from
tertiary care.

Our dedicated Infection
Prevention & Control (IPC) specialist nurses play a critical
role across Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) in
maintaining a safe and healthy environment within our hospital. We
support multidisciplinary teams and contribute clinical and
professional expertise in the delivery of comprehensive,
evidence-based and patient-centred care to our consumers and their
families. Our primary objective is to prevent the spread of
infectious diseases and minimise the risk of infections among
consumers, healthcare workers, and visitors.
