About the Role

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant – Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) to join our team and provide expert clinical leadership across our non-hospital environments (the Child and Adolescent Community Health and Child and Adolescent Mental Health community-based Services).

Reporting to the Coordinator of Nursing Infection Prevention and Control, you will work collaboratively with the clinical teams who are delivering care to children, adolescents and neonatal patients in diverse settings such as schools, homes, clinics, and aboriginal and community health centres. You will contribute to service planning, drive compliance with infection prevention protocols, and lead the implementation of safe, adaptable, evidence-based, and client-centred IPC measures in varied community environments.

Your ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals in the implementation of best practice and respond to the needs of both clinicians and vulnerable paediatric populations—will be highly regarded.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of IPC policies, and risk-based strategies tailored to dynamic and lower-surveillance community health settings.
  • Driving education programs, evaluation, and staff engagement around safe practices
  • Working in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and external providers to support best practices in IPC.
  • Influencing and guiding clinical practices through consultancy, mentoring, and evidence-based recommendations.

  • Applying innovation to complex scenarios where risk factors differ from tertiary care.

If you are a collaborative nursing leader with advanced knowledge and practice in Infection Prevention and Control and the ability to think creatively and adapt IPC principles to diverse community environments we encourage you to apply.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a measurable difference in community-based care and child health safety.

About our Team:
