About the role
The Network Security Analyst plays a critical role in safeguarding the Public Transport Authority’s (PTA) IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments by monitoring, detecting, and responding to cyber threats in real time. This position is responsible for protecting the integrity, confidentiality and availability of application and databases by monitoring threats and implementing security measures and respond to security incidents related to applications and databases. The role involves conducting regular security assessments to identify threats as well as implementing and maintaining application and database security tools. It also includes integrating emerging technologies, collaborating with Security Administrators, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the PTA's cybersecurity posture.
In addition to real-time threat detection and response, the Network Security Analyst supports ongoing improvements in security operations by analysing system performance, contributing to impact assessments, and evaluating third-party compliance with security policies. The role requires collaboration with various teams to enhance incident response capabilities, support business continuity planning, and ensure alignment with PTA’s cybersecurity frameworks and standards. The Analyst is also involved in service delivery, project support, compliance activities, and raising cybersecurity awareness across the organisation. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential to manage evolving threats in a dynamic operational environment.

There is one permanent full-time opportunity available for an immediate start. Applicants holding full work rights in Australia until at least 31 December 2027 are also encouraged to apply and may be considered if assessed as suitable.
