About the role

This position is responsible for conducting thorough security risk assessments, analysing threat intelligence, and implementing response strategies to mitigate potential impacts to the PTA’s digital assets and data. The SOC Analyst ensures that access controls are effectively managed, security standards and policies are enforced, and all preventative measures are up to date, tested, and fully documented. Key responsibilities include continuous threat monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and coordinating with internal stakeholders to strengthen PTA’s security posture.

In addition to real-time threat detection and response, the SOC Analyst supports ongoing improvements in security operations by analysing system performance, contributing to risk treatment plans, and evaluating third-party compliance with security policies. The role requires collaboration with various teams to enhance incident response capabilities, support business continuity planning, and ensure alignment with PTA’s cybersecurity frameworks and standards. The SOC Analyst is also involved in service delivery, project support, compliance activities, and raising cybersecurity awareness across the organisation. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential to manage evolving threats in a dynamic operational environment.

About You!

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Holds tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, with relevant certifications such as CISSP or GIAC preferred. Brings significant, recent experience in cybersecurity or information security, particularly in conducting risk assessments and defining threats and controls.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including threat identification, mitigation strategies, and incident response. Has experience building and maintaining threat profiles and using security automation and orchestration tools to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across IT and business units, contributing to a unified and proactive approach to organisational security.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical abilities, with the capacity to analyse data and deliver actionable reports. Highly organised, able to meet deadlines and targets while effectively managing people and leading teams to support IT and OT security objectives in dynamic environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to foster collaboration across teams and with stakeholders. Committed to promoting public service values, professionalism, and personal integrity, continuously advocating for self-development and integrity in all interactions.
