This includes managing traffic flow, ensuring road safety, and supporting infrastructure projects to improve transport efficiency. As we continue to grow and improve, we are seeking up to four (4) experienced Road Designers to join our collaborative team.

 About the Role

We are looking for up to four (4) experienced Road Designers to be part of our Road and Traffic Engineering Branch. This Branch is the centre of technical expertise in road design, traffic engineering and traffic management. Our team of designers are involved in undertaking concept, preliminary and detailed designs of various road projects as well as the development and maintenance of a wide range of standards and guidelines.

In this role, you will report directly to a Senior Road Designer and be responsible for executing medium complexity horizontal and vertical geometric designs across a variety of road projects and contribute to the creation of technical standards and guidelines for road design. You will be proficient in CAD drafting of road design drawings and be capable of undertaking geometric design reviews submitted by others.

About You

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Develop drawings and designs to Main Roads standards
  • Undertake the review or audit of road designs
  • Be proficient in OpenRoads or similar 3d civil modelling software and either AutoCAD or MicroStation
  • Provide supervision, development and training of junior staff
  • Provide specialist technical support and advice

As well as your technical capability, we are also looking for an excellent communicator with a natural ability to work effectively with a range of Main Roads staff and external stakeholders.
