This is an eighteen (18) month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP with possible extension

The Curriculum, Assessment and Strategic Policy Directorate ensures the integrity and consistency of education standards across Western Australia by implementing moderation activities, overseeing the development and review of ATAR course examinations, and advancing online assessment initiatives. It leads policy development and innovation in curriculum, assessment, and moderation from Kindergarten to Year 12, ensuring alignment with best practices and evolving educational needs. Additionally, the directorate manages key projects and provides strategic support to the School Curriculum and Standards Authority Board and the Minister, ensuring responsiveness to policy and governance requirements.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic professional to provide high-level support and leadership in the development, implementation, and management of curriculum, assessment, and certification projects across Kindergarten to Year 12. This role involves leading complex initiatives, managing project teams, and overseeing budgets to ensure successful delivery within set timeframes. You will be responsible for evaluating policies and programs, identifying opportunities for improvement, and providing expert advice to senior leaders on key education matters. Your ability to conduct in-depth research, analyse emerging issues, and develop strategic recommendations will be essential in shaping policy and driving positive outcomes for students and schools.

As a key advisor, you will work closely with executive and management teams to address complex challenges, ensuring consistency and alignment with educational priorities. You will build and maintain strong relationships with schools and stakeholders, using effective communication and negotiation skills to support policy development and implementation. Additionally, you will prepare high-quality reports, briefing notes, and correspondence for senior leadership and government bodies. Your expertise will contribute to the broader functions of the Directorate, supporting operational efficiency and ensuring alignment with the Department’s strategic goals.
