About Our Team:
At
the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
(CAMHS) our Social Workers are part of a collaborative,
multi-disciplinary team providing compassionate assessment, support
and treatment to infants, children and young people experiencing
moderate to severe mental health challenges and their families. We
adopt a recovery oriented, child-centered approach that assists our
clients to establish practical and attainable goals that improves
their wellbeing and functioning and engagement in everyday
activities (school, family life, relationships, recreation,
play).
Our
multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals includes
psychiatrists, speech therapists, clinical psychologists,
occupational therapists, clinical nurses, Aboriginal mental health
workers and lived experience staff. CAMHS offers a comprehensive
range of services including mental health assessment and specialist
counselling, crisis intervention, advocacy, psychoeducation, case
management, family support and liaison with other services. Our
work includes developing external stakeholder partnerships with
local schools and service providers.
About the Role:
As
a Social Worker with CAMHS Acute IPU, you will
provide mental health assessment and multi-disciplinary
intervention for children, young people, and families. You will
work closely with a multi-disciplinary team under a leading
Consultant Psychiatrist. This is a great opportunity to develop
your skills in a supportive learning environment. You will leverage
the skills and knowledge of Senior Social Workers and other health
professionals to provide a sound comprehensive service,
encompassing assessment, treatment, advocacy, prevention, and
collaboration.
You will help
children, adolescents, and their families navigate the challenges
that can arise from complex and diverse needs and mental health
concerns, you will play a vital role in helping young people
establish practical and attainable goals, promoting the highest
level of function in various aspects of their lives and improving
overall well-being.
What you’ll be
doing
- Conduct
bio-psychosocial assessments and mental state assessments to
determine the unique needs of young people.
- Provide
social work service including mental health assessments, risk
assessments and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to
individuals, families, and groups.
- Advocate
for clients' rights and needs within the community and the
healthcare system.
- Liaise
with families, carers, health professionals, community agencies
and others to coordinate care, intervention and discharge
planning, report on client progress and outcomes, and initiate
referrals.
Please
note a tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for
full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers is
a requirement for this role.
