Education Business Services (EBS) is seeking to establish a pool of Graduate Officers for permanent full-time vacancies which may arise during 2025 until the end of February 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Department of Education is Western Australia’s largest employer, with approximately one-third of the Government workforce in some 800 worksites across the State. EBS is a large group within the Department that supports the delivery of high-quality education to students across our State through the divisions of Finance and Commercial Services, ICT and Infrastructure, and the Business and Customer Services directorate. Together, we are the Department’s strong supporting foundation that:
- pays all Department staff and supports them to procure the goods and services they need
- plans, builds and takes care of the buildings and facilities in which our students learn
- funds all our schools and provides them with appropriate resources and ICT infrastructure
- manages information so that decisions are documented and accessible
- upholds and enhances the Department’s reputation by meeting compliance requirements and working effectively with our stakeholders.
The Role
We currently have 5 Graduate Officer positions in the pool, commencing February 2025. These are permanent appointments following a 12-month probation period.
The areas you might work in
The Financial Services Directorate within Finance and Commercial Services is responsible for a number of key finance-related functions within the Department, including financial policy and governance, financial reporting and school financial management and support.
The Financial Planning and Resourcing Directorate within Finance and Commercial Services is responsible for a number of key finance-related functions within the Department, including overall budget and resource management, high-level strategic financial advice, school resourcing, management of the Student-Centred Funding Model and financial planning.
The Commercial and Contracting Services Directorate within Finance and Commercial Services is responsible for providing procurement and commercial legal support to the Department and schools; contract planning, establishment and management; and insurance and fleet management.
The Non-Government School Funding Branch within Finance and Commercial Services is responsible for administering the State Government’s recurrent funding of non-government schools, the Low Interest Loan Scheme and the provision of analysis and advice on financial viability matters.
The Infrastructure Division has responsibility for the planning and provision of facilities (land and buildings), which includes land planning, student enrolment forecasting and facilities planning, strategic asset management, capital works programs, maintenance and minor works programs and provision of facilities-related services.

To be suitable for the pool, you will need to demonstrate that you meet the following requirements:
- The initial assessment of your application will be based on your eligibility, qualifications, written submission and CV.
- Further assessment stages will be based on the selection criteria (in the JDFs), the EBS Service Delivery Principles (Responsive, Flexible, Transparent, Accountable and Collaborative), along with examples of your skills or experience.
Once we have assessed your application, you will either progress through stages of the process or not and, at the end, suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool from which the Department can select the candidates to meet business needs for the Graduate roles.
