We are looking to establish a pool of qualified and experienced analysts in the Spatial Services Section, Terrestrial Ecosystems Branch, and Nature Planning Branch. Suitable applicants will be selected from the pool to fill immediate and future positions as they become vacant.
DWER's geospatial datasets are among the department's most vital assets. They support regulatory, compliance, and enforcement activities, while also providing essential science and planning capabilities that drive strategic policy development for the protection of future water and environmental resources.
With multiple positions open for immediate start, this is an excellent opportunity to join a team of like-minded environmental spatial scientists. You'll use your skills to support climate initiatives, environmental impact assessments, water management, native vegetation, environmental science, and strategic policy functions through spatial analysis, innovative solutions, and data creation.
The Department is looking to establish a pool of suitable candidates for the following positions:

With a specific focus on native vegetation, and spatial data considerations within the Native Vegetation policy perspective across the state. You will also assist with complex geospatial and big data analysis activities, develop high quality print and web map products as well as undertake research to assist with investigations and projects regarding the native vegetation issues. Additionally, you will collaborate with the project team and stakeholders on a range of operations and projects.

In addition to the above, as a Spatial Environmental Analyst you will provide specialist advice in the application of Geospatial data governance and standards and lead discovery of new approaches for data submission and visualisation. With a specific focus on terrestrial biodiversity and marine survey data across the State, you will enable data sharing to inform environmental impact assessment, regulation and strategic policy.
Here’s what you can expect:
Level 4 Spatial Services Analyst – Enterprise Data & Architecture

You will work closely with the Spatial Services team and stakeholders on various operations and projects, contributing to better environmental policies, regional planning and management of native vegetation. Your responsibilities will include remote sensing and environmental data capture and complex geospatial analysis. Building connections with public sector agencies and demonstrating adaptability and a passion for improving environmental outcomes are highly valued.
