Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
Position Profile: Manages and leads development, monitoring and analysis of strategic clinical governance policies and programs in consultation with stakeholders to facilitate the system wide establishment of clinical governance practice within the WA health system. The successful applicant will act as Principal Policy Consultant regarding areas of portfolio responsibility, while managing the patient safety program and contributing to the strategic direction of the Office of Patient Safety and Clinical Quality.
Other duties of this position include the following:
- Manages the activities of the Patient Safety Surveillance Unit and ensures the effective and efficient use of government, financial and human resources.
- Initiates and oversees appropriate quality and safety committees, as required.
- Supervises investigations, reporting and policy analysis into safety and quality related issues within the Western Australian community as required for the development of appropriate policies and programs.
- Prepares and manages timely preparation of response to Parliamentary Questions, briefing notes, research and policy papers and general correspondence for the Executive Director, Assistant Director General, Director General and Minister for Health/Mental Health.
- Provide strategic advice to the Executive Director, Assistant Director General and the Director General as required.
