About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and invested students currently completing a Diploma in Civil & Structural Engineering or Civil Construction Design and plan to continue their studies with an Advanced Diploma. This scholarship offers:
- Tuition Fee Support - Main Roads will pay the compulsory tuition fees for your enrolled TAFE units at the beginning of each semester for your Advanced Diploma.
- Paid Study (Sustenance Allowance) - to assist you in focusing on your full-time studies, during semester Main Roads will pay you a fortnightly sustenance allowance.
Upon the successful completion of your Advanced Diploma, you will join our Engineering Associate Program. This is a three (3) year rotational program that offers structured rotations, including a 12-month regional rotation at any of our seven regional locations.

To be considered for our Engineering Associate Cadetship, you must be;
- Completing your Diploma studies and committed to studying an Advanced Diploma in civil engineering in 2025
- An Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (upon graduation)
Please submit the following documentation as part of your application:
- A brief CV
- A copy of your current academic transcript in your Diploma of Civil Construction Design or Civil and Structural Engineering, at a Western Australian TAFE
- A copy of your current WA motor vehicle (car) Driver’s Licence (or an approved equivalent)
- Proof of Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
- A cover letter outlining why you would like to join our Cadetship program, highlighting your skills, abilities and achievements that are relevant to this Cadetship
Please ensure your cover letter does not exceed two (2) pages.
Successful applicants will need to complete a pre-employment medical questionnaire prior to appointment.
Please note: Successful applicants for the Cadetship will be bonded to Main Roads (duration to be confirmed prior to appointment) and will be required to join the Engineering Associate program upon completion of the Cadetship. Engineering Associates are required to complete a pre-employment medical assessment prior to commencing the Graduate program and will be required to hold WA Driver’s Licence.
