Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and highly motivated individual with strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and who has the ability to work autonomously, to fill the position of School Officer

As a Level 2 School Officer, you will ideally have experience in providing general and personal assistant administration in a complex environment. You should have the ability to coordinate multiple activities with minimal supervision within tight timeframes with a strong customer service focus and the ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Your strong time management, organisational skills, and ability to coordinate contractors, combined with excellent attention to detail will be key to success in this role.

You will provide general administrative support including organisation of executive calendars, onboarding of new staff, key and faults management as well as interview process coordination.  In this role you will be proficient in SIS, Compass, as well as all Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, One Note and MS Forms.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
  • Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
