Communications Officer
(MIS24077)
Permanent opportunity.
The WA Government has made significant commitments to reduce our carbon emissions and address the impacts of climate change, for WA and beyond. This requires major transformation to make WA's energy sector cleaner and greener, while still delivering cheap and reliable energy to customers. At Energy Policy WA, you will be part of the dynamic, multifaceted organisation tasked with leading this change, communicating complex ideas to the Western Australian public and helping them understand our State's energy transition in real time.
Here at the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) we value diversity and appreciate every individual’s perspective, bringing together a diverse and inclusive workforce to drive innovation and success. So, if you’re an innovative and forward-thinking individual who values collaboration and wants to contribute to the next big discovery in the mining sector, protecting our workers’ health and safety, protecting tenants and consumers, transforming energy supply and emissions, whilst rolling out new technology to deliver excellent customer service and achieve success, then DEMIRS is the agency for you.
The role
Our Energy Policy Group provides advice to the government of Western Australia and Minister for Energy to facilitate the delivery of secure, reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy services.
As a Communications Officer, you will undertake the project management and coordination of communication projects, including content development, emphasising both digital and on online channels. Additionally, you will help raise awareness of Energy Policy WA, and its priorities within the WA community.
A typical day involves writing content for the website, planning new communication activities with the project teams, managing external contracts and promoting the role of Energy Policy WA to the public. Working for the department includes a range of benefits including flexible working hours and up to two days working from home per week.
Please refer to the Job Description Form (JDF) for further information regarding the position, including any specific requirements, capabilities and pre-employment checks which will be assessed as part of the selection process.
While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.
This role is located in the Perth CBD, at 66 St Georges Terrace.
