The role
Our Energy Policy Group is helping shape Western Australia’s energy future. The Group provides advice to the Minister for Energy and government on energy policy, as well as facilitating the delivery of secure, reliable and sustainable energy services.
The Principal Program Manager and Policy Analyst positions sits within the Strategic and Consumer Policy Division. In this role, you will lead and undertake policy, program and project design, development, implementation, and evaluation. You will partner with other agencies, Government Trading Enterprises, and non-government organisations to improve energy use by households, small businesses and other consumers.
A typical day will involve leading, designing and implementing across-government energy demand management programs, projects and initiatives that assist WA energy consumers to participate in, and benefit from, the State’s energy transition.
To be successful in the role you will be a solutions-focused problem solver who can confidently set and achieve policy, program and project objectives, effectively engage with and influence diverse stakeholder groups, undertake research and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data and prepare high quality written submissions, reports and recommendations, as well as to support and mentor staff and represent the Energy Policy Group on various internal and external committees and working groups.
By joining this team, you will help the WA Government to achieve its decarbonisation goals and improve outcomes for energy consumers.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.
This role is located in the Perth CBD, at 66 St Georges Terrace.
