Teachers and school administrators employed at Australind Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $5,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the Role
Australind SHS is seeking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic English teacher who is responsive to change and is willing to support an inclusive education catering for a variety of learning styles across Year 7 to Year 12. There is a particular opportunity for the successful applicant to teach ATAR courses if suitably qualified.
About the Teacher
We are seeking a talented, dedicated English teacher with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the following:
- Plan, teach and deliver to classes in both Lower and Senior School
- Create and design face-to-face lessons with clear learning objectives and outcomes.
- Use existing learning materials and develop your own as required.
- Document and maintain assessment results in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Evaluate and monitor student learning and course progress.
- Play a role in student consultations, assessment grading and moderation.
- Create an interactive and positive learning environment for students.
The successful applicant should possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant English curriculum through a variety of programs that are relevant to Year 7 to Year 10 students' needs. The interest and ability to teach relevant General and ATAR courses would be a relevant skill set. You will be able to demonstrate teaching and learning strategies that support the development of sound literacy understandings within the classroom.
Graduate teachers and teachers with upper primary school experience who are interested in teaching in our Year 7 program are also encouraged to apply.

Australind SHS is located north of the highly desirable location of Bunbury with easy access to the wider Southwest region. Australind SHS is the largest Independent Public School in the South West region of Western Australia. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
