About Our
Team:
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
(CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and
treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who
are experiencing mental health challenges.
As an integral part of the wider CAMHS Corporate team, the
Policy Team creates, develops, monitors, and reviews policies,
procedures, and guidelines specific to CAMHS, to enable the safe
delivery of services across Acute, Specialised, and Community
services. The team also works with the Child and Adolescent Health
Services (CAHS) to facilitate and provide feedback for CAHS
policies that have practical implications for CAMHS.
About the
Role:
As the Senior Portfolio and Policy Officer, you
will have oversight of managing and implementing CAMHS policies.
You will work across the breadth of CAMHS Directorates in Acute,
Community, and Specialised Services, liaising with Service Managers
and multi-disciplinary teams to understand the obligations and
compliance for reporting and policy review cycles. You will
bring your subject matter expertise in policy management, and
maintain up to date knowledge of policy or legislative changes
impacting operations for mental health services, such as the Mental
Health Act and Office of Chief Psychiatrist’s Standards of
Clinical Care.
You will also lead the development of strategic policy
initiatives relating to mental health with an emphasis on
facilitating health improvements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islanders in accordance with government and health system
objectives.
CAMHS is continually evolving our services with a focus on
enabling safe and best practices in the way we deliver care; the
Senior Policy and Portfolio Officer will be instrumental in

Current knowledge of policy and legislation relating to
operation of mental health services, such as the Mental Health Act,
and Office of Chief Psychiatrist’s Standards of Clinical Care
is desirable. A tertiary qualification in a relevant clinical
discipline is desirable.

Eligibility to Apply: Australian
citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for
applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public

above fixed-term vacancies, it may also be used to fill other

be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid
for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised
delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
About our CAMHS Directorates
-
Community CAMHS– Community CAMHS
offers mental health assessment and multidisciplinary
intervention for children and young people up to the age of 18
years.

Specialist Services and Day
Programs– The Specialist Services and Day
Programs consists of Complex Attention and Hyperactivity
Disorder Service, Multisystemic Therapy, Pathways and
Touchstone. These programs support children and young people
who have complex mental health needs.

Acute CAMHS– Acute CAMHS, based at
Perth Children’s Hospital has a mental health inpatient
unit (Ward 5A), Paediatric Consultation Liaison, Eating
Disorder Service and Gender Diversity Service.
