About the Team
Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, Western Australia’s only acute tertiary paediatric centre, our dedicated Medical Imaging Team provide a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology services to children aged 0-16 years, including inpatients, outpatients, and the Emergency Department.
As a team we provide a wide variety of imaging within the subspecialities of general X-Ray CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy,interventional radiology, neuroradiology and paediatric cardiac catheterisations.
Our focus is directed towards achieving the highest quality imaging studies with a compassionate, child-friendly focus. The department is equipped with highly specialised facilities to create a safe and comfortable environment for infants, children and their families.
Part of our dedication to excellence, is benchmarking our services via collaboration with other children's hospitals and actively participating in research initiatives. We provide support for research projects and contribute to the advancement of procedures through partnerships with universities and paediatric specialist foundations.
About the Position
We are seeking Medical Imaging Technologists to join our team with varied training pathways available to broaden your technical expertise.
In this role, you will interpret radiological requests and provide diagnostic images, following the ALARA principle, and ensuring the highest standard of patient care. You will work closely with radiologists within Medical Imaging and other health professionals to conduct procedures as required.
Your role will involve:
- Maintaining accurate records of examinations in compliance with statutory requirements and departmental policies.
- Liaising with medical and other staff to coordinate diagnostic imaging procedures and services.
- Ensuring the optimum function of equipment through established work practices and quality controls.
- Prioritising patient comfort, welfare, privacy, and safety throughout the imaging process.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice to enhance the care provided to paediatric patients.
- Advocating for patient needs and educating patients and their families about procedures, and care to promote understanding and confidence.
Working with children is unique, requiring exceptional skills in communication and empathy to minimise anxiety and pain for young patients.

A Tertiary Qualification in Medical Imaging and eligibility for registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia and licensing with the Radiological Council of WA are required for this role.
Applicants with relevant experience in adult care will be provided the opportunity for clinical support and education to enable a smooth transition into the paediatric practice environment.
