South Coogee Primary School (PS) and Beaconsfield Primary School (PS) are seeking a Network Support Officer (NSO) to join our collaborative educational community and work over both school sites.
South Coogee Primary School 0.6FTE – Tuesday/Thursday/Friday
Beaconsfield Primary School 0.4FTE – Monday/Wednesday

As the NSO, you will maintain the school’s Information Technology network to maximise both educational and administrative outcomes, within the Departmental asset management and security regulatory framework.
The ability to work within the framework and understandings established by the Learning with Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) is integral to this role.
The successful applicant will ensure the integrity of educational and administrative data through the implementation and maintenance of data security strategies and liaise with Department of Education ICT Support to resolve hardware, software and network related issues.
Our schools invest heavily in a wide range of technologies to support student learning, including Interactive whiteboards (IWB), iPads, desktop computers and laptops. Experience with the management of these devices including the use of Student Support Services (SSS) and Tier 3 Server would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities for this position are Network Maintenance: Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the network infrastructure to ensure its stability and security. User Support: Provide technical support to staff and students, addressing network-related issues promptly and effectively. Data Security: Implement and maintain data security protocols to protect sensitive information within the schools. Collaboration: Collaborate with the IT teams at both schools to ensure the seamless integration of technology and the exchange of best practices. Innovation: Stay up-to-date with technological advancements and propose improvements to enhance the schools' technology capabilities.
The successful applicant will ideally possess relevant certification in network support or a related field, strong problem-solving and communication skills, proficiency in network administration and troubleshooting, knowledge of data security and privacy standards. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements (selection criteria):
- knowledge of network systems and platforms relevant to the operating environment.
- analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to the operational maintenance of Information Technology networks.
- organisational skills, including the ability to plan and implement data security procedures.
- verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients.
- practical experience in developing and implementing user-training procedures.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
