Our Network Operations Planning branch is actively seeking a passionate expert in traffic signal operations. This role involves providing technical advice and guidance in developing signal operations, strategy, standards and policies. You’ll also be responsible for signal reviews and coordinating interagency activities relate to traffic signal operations.

About You
In the role of Traffic Signal Operations Planning Coordinator, your responsibilities will encompass:
- Developing Traffic Signal Operations Strategy: You will play a pivotal role in creating and executing a comprehensive traffic signal operations strategy. This includes formulating policies, processes, and guidelines aimed at enhancing the efficiency and safety of the current road network. This strategy will contribute to a more integrated and effective transportation system.
- Specialist Advice: You will provide specialised advice in the field of traffic signal operations. This guidance will encompass aspects such as signal system application, programming and facilitating system access in collaboration with system owners.
- Skill Enhancement Programs: You will oversee developing and implementing skill enhancement and training programs. These programs will focus on improving the technical competencies of the staff, particularly in areas related to traffic signal design, review, operations and associated system. This includes configuring signal timings and programming.
By taking on this role, you will be a key contributor to the Network Operations Directorate’s mission of optimizing the road network’s performance, ensuring safe and efficient transportation for the people and freight of Western Australia.

Submitting Your Application
Please submit the following in your application:
- A comprehensive CV demonstrating your relevant skills and abilities within the context of the Job Role Statement
- A statement outlining your substantial skill, knowledge and experience in the following three (3) criteria in no more than three (3) pages:
- Proven experience in utilising traffic signal, including the application of road traffic flow theory within traffic signal operations
- Experience in traffic signal design and system, programming and testing, including controller personality programming
- Developing and delivering technical training program and technical competence assessments.
- This may include in the areas of traffic signal design, operation, systems,
- A copy of your current Western Australian motor vehicle (car) Driver’s Licence (C Class) or approved equivalent
- If applicable to you (not mandatory), a copy of your Degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic/Transport Engineering, Computer Programming or other relevant discipline.
All selection criteria listed in the Job Role Statement will be assessed throughout the selection process with equal weighting.
