About our Aboriginal Employment Program
This Aboriginal Employment Program is an initiative, within the department’s Aboriginal Employment Strategy and the Diversity and Inclusion Plan. It is a 12-month program to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders employment and career development opportunities.
- You will initially commence on a 12-month contract and upon the successful completion of the program will gain permanency.
- You will have professional development opportunities and on-the-job learning.
- You will be supported and guided from by the Manager Aboriginal Strategy, a sponsor/mentor and our Aboriginal staff network.
- Our offices are close to public transport, making it easy to get to and from work.

What will you be doing?
In this role, you will provide assistance and business support for WorkSafe and Regional Safety’s compliance activities.
These activities are varied, and your responsibility may include;
- Providing administration support for meetings, including booking attendees, preparing agendas, taking and distributing minutes.
- Assist with coordinating events; including seminars, conferences, expos and field days. (Yes, you get to attend).
- Gathering data and analysing it to report on trends.
- Assisting with projects designed to improve business processes.
- Drafting documents and reports.
- Assisting with purchasing, paying invoices and reconciling credit card payments.
You will be able to build great relationships with other employees, people at other government departments, union organisations and industry organisations.

Where will you work?
This position is located in Cannington, offering an excellent opportunity to escape the city and enjoy the benefits of this location. Situated near a shopping centre with various food and entertainment options, you can enjoy the convenience and amenities available nearby.
Commuting to the office is made easy with excellent accessibility via public transport. However, please note that the Armadale/Thornlie line will be closed for 18 months from late 2023 and replacement bus services are planned.
Within the office premises, you’ll find a café with friendly staff, serving great coffee and offering a selection of healthy lunch choices. The office itself is light and open plan, with breakout areas, spacious meeting rooms and multiple kitchen areas. What are we looking for?
To be shortlisted for interview, you are required to submit the following two application documents.
- A maximum two (2) page covering letterusing examples to tell us about your experience in researching and analysing information and problem solving; and your experience in using Microsoft suite applications.
- A detailed resume outlining your work history, education and professional development relevant to the advertised role, including the names of two (2) referees, with a current line manager preferred.
All requirements, capabilities and pre-employment checks listed on the attached JDF will be assessed as part of the selection process. Pre-employment checks will include a National Police check and Proof of Aboriginality.
