About the role
As Policy Project Officer you will work on legislative and government policy projects as part of a dynamic team. You will undertake statutory and operational reforms matters within the Resource and Environmental Regulation Group, and you will be assisting with consultation and negotiation on resources projects with key stakeholders, industry groups, government agencies, external customers, community groups and other relevant parties. In addition, you’ll prepare Ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, reports and other departmental correspondence, and reporting.
Drawing on your extensive experience in completing projects with business plans and projects briefs as well as research, reporting, consulting and negotiating on effective policy development with key stakeholders, industry group, government agencies, external customers, community groups and other relevant parties you will play a vital role in developing and implementing legislation, policy and programs relating to the regulation of the resource sector, working in partnership with operational branches.
Your skills and experience in project management and stakeholder engagement will be key to your success in this role. Your passion for project management and attention to detail will ensure that projects are delivered as planned. You will be responsible for the management and completion of small-scale policy and legislative projects. You will be at the forefront of engaging with the dynamic resource industry and the various stakeholder groups with touchpoints to the industry. While the role is full time and office based, you may at times be driving to the regions to engage with the mining industry and other stakeholders. At other times you might be present in Parliament to contribute to the development and creation of legislation necessary for the continued success and economic prosperity of Western Australia and its people through the development of our resources.
