Braeside Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.

Our school
Braeside PS is situated in the town of Katanning, in the Central Great Southern region of Western Australia. With a population of approximately 4,200, Katanning is the centre of a successful grain and sheep farming area. The school population is comprised of a unique blend of cultures including Malay, Aboriginal, Non-Aboriginal, Burmese, African, South African, Karen, Indonesian and New Zealand backgrounds. The town boasts a great social life and plenty of sporting opportunities, If you need a get away, within an easy drive are great locations such as The Stirling Ranges, Bremer Bay, Albany and Perth.
Students enjoy a safe and secure learning environment. Extensive play areas, surrounded by natural bush settings, are enhanced with new playground equipment and soft fall landing. The school has a dedicated Art room, as well as access to interactive whiteboards in each classroom, class banks of notebook computers and iPads and a well-resourced school Library. Initial Lit is a focus in the Early Years, Spelling Mastery for years 4-6 and Spell X for year 3.
Mathematics is a major focus for 2024. New staff will be supported to undertake professional development in line with the school improvement plan.
Straight classes across the ECE years and the year 6 cohort. Smaller class sizes with EA support. We also provide excellent programs for Special Needs Students.
The school is comprised of the Senior classroom block with three classrooms and the Art Area, the Junior classroom block with 7 classrooms, and the Early Years Area with Kindergarten and Pre-Primary. There is also a dedicated SSEN room and multiple rooms for visiting specialists and in-house programs.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
