School of Special Educational Needs: Medical And Mental Health (SSEN:MMH) is seeking a Resource and Information Communication Technology (ICT) officer to join their dynamic and collaborative team.
About the Role
As a Resource and Information Technology Officer with the SSEN:MMH, you will be a highly valued member of a team, ideally providing timely and innovative support to staff and students. You should display excellent organisational, conceptual and analytical skills and the capacity to liaise with individuals at all levels.
Connection to education through ICT is a major aspect of our school planning and budget allocation. Resource and ICT officers at SSEN:MMH support staff and students by providing innovative approaches to information and technology problems, They manage and develop library resources and digital technologies to facilitate the teaching and educational needs of staff and students. They should work collaboratively with other resource centre team members, as well as corporate services and teaching staff, in an open office environment.
The role is located in the metropolitan area at Perth Children’s Hospital and assists SSEN:MMH staff across the state in all areas related to library resources and ICT. Aspects of this job entail travelling across sites in the metropolitan area.
About the School
SSEN:MMH is one of seven specialist schools within Statewide Services. The SSEN:MMH administrative centre is currently based at Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, with metropolitan programs in hospital and community health settings in the north and south metropolitan education regions. Staff are timetabled to programs across SSEN:MMH campuses including Bentley, Joondalup, Midland, Murdoch, Shenton Park and Nedlands to ensure we meet the needs of students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and to improve the educational outcomes of these students. Our model of care LETS (Liaise, Educate, Transition and Support), ensures continuity in education to support engagement in learning and transition to the student’s enrolling school or alternative educational program.

Staff work in collaborative teams to assist us meet the educational, medical and psychosocial needs of students ensuring continuity of education.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to effectively liaise with individuals at all levels.
- Good computer skills and ability to use a range of information management systems and application software packages including databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good conceptual and analytical skills, including ability to develop innovative solutions to information and technology problems.
- Initiative and good organisational skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within 6 months of appointment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
