This is a fixed term appointment for 20 hours per week for up to 2 years.
This is a newly established role, within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) Directorate, providing leadership across the WA health system regarding issues of relevance to the medical profession.
Your new role: This is an exciting opportunity to shape the medical profession and medical workforce in WA. You will provide strategic advice to executive leaders on matters concerning the medical profession including clinical, training and workforce issues. This will involve applying your knowledge and expertise to inform relevant policies, new procedures, technologies and improve models of care for the delivery of health care in Western Australia. You will also be relied on to work with stakeholders to assist the recruitment and employment of key clinicians. In this role, you will deputise for the Chief Medical Officer as required and act as second in charge.
Your capabilities to be successful: We are seeking a proven strategic leader, who will work alongside the Chief Medical Officer, to direct the provision of expert professional and clinical medical services in WA. You will have a contemporary understanding of the operational and strategic management issues impacting the medical workforce to drive initiatives that utilise technology, shape policy and embrace change. In this regard, you will have demonstrated skill in steering and implementing organisational change. This will be supported by your collaborative leadership skills to represent WA Health on state and national committees, and relevant user groups. Eligibility to Apply: Eligibility for registration by the Medical Board of Australia is an essential requirement for applicants, as well as Fellowship of a relevant Australian College or Specialist Society, or an approved equivalent.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
