The Opportunity:
Are you looking for an opportunity to contribute to the delivery and reporting on transport matters related to the planning and development of Western Australia?
The Senior Planning and Engineering Officer is responsible for delivering road planning projects, reporting on transport matters related to urban planning and development applications, investigating and coordinating a range of transport planning and policy issues and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders, representing the Department and the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) at SAT hearings and mediations.
This is a permanent, full-time positions, (however consideration may be given to applicants seeking part-time opportunities). This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate your comprehensive skills, knowledge and experience in:
- Transport planning, traffic engineering, traffic modelling and/or road design.
- Demonstrated ability in conceptional and analytical skills and the ability to communicate the findings within the planning system, planning practices, legislation, policy and systems.
- Preparing and/or reviewing traffic and transport reports and providing technical advice and recommendations to a range of stakeholders within the statutory framework.
- Developing scope of works, project management and/ or contract management.
- Highly developed written and oral communications, presentation and interpersonal skills, including proven capacity to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders in a multidisciplinary environment.

Special Requirements for this position:
The Department will conduct National Police Clearances for applicants successful to this recruitment process.
A degree in Civil, Traffic or Transport Engineering or Urban / Regional Planning is essential.
