About the Role

The key role of the Network Operations Directorate is to optimise the performance of the existing road network to facilitate the movement of people and freight safely, reliably and efficiently throughout Western Australia, while the Traffic and Road Network Performance Branch provides leadership and specialist advice on traffic engineering, procedures and practices for traffic signals on the State Road Network.

Our Network Area Performance Team is looking for a number of Senior Traffic Engineers or Transport Planners to fulfill the role of Senior Route Management Officers for the Metropolitan State Road Network.

As a Senior Route Management Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • The review and optimisation of traffic signal timings
  • Route performance management and analysis
  • Providing specialist advice into transport projects and technical support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Performing technical assessment of development applications

 

About the You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a good understanding of road network and traffic performance analysis methods, and urban traffic theory.
  • Has knowledge of modelling software, data requirements and the interpretation of modelling results from SIDRA, LinSig or similar packages.
  • Has interest in traffic signal optimisation.
  • Has some understanding of planning policies and guidelines.
  • Is a creative, solution-oriented team member, with a strong technical background, solid understanding of traffic engineering principles and passionate about providing specialist input to decisions and projects affecting operational performance of the State Road Network.
  • Has experience providing technical support managing projects.
  • Is able to work with other team members to ensure optimal traffic performance outcomes for our customers.
  • Has previous experience in managing stakeholders,
  • Has a strong desire to succeed by learning from colleagues and creating collaborative relationships at all levels.
  • Has a strong interest in pursuing continued learning and development.
