We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Manager to join the WA Police Force in their data journey by leading the Data Analytics and Reporting unit within the Data Science and Analytics Division. About the role
The Data Analytics and Reporting Manager is an outcomes focused leader who will grow and develop the team and drive innovation that will provide exceptional data analytics and services for the WA Police Force and the WA community. You will join a dynamic group of individuals who are leading the way in enabling WA Police Force to not only use data to facilitate informed decision making in all aspects of the business but also to solve crime faster and keep the community safe.
In this role you will lead the Data Analytics and Reporting unit to deliver data centric products and tools that positively contribute to delivering data driven insights in a policing environment.
Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Leads and provides subject matter expertise in relation to the development, review and implementation of new data-centric products to meet corporate reporting, statistical and analytical needs
- Drive change and set strategic priorities for the Data Analytics and Reporting unit
- Ensures thorough governance processes, that the design, analysis, and implementation of data analysis practices are fit for purpose to enable the efficient and effective use of data resources to meet the Agency’s need for information products for corporate business intelligence, statistics, performance management and operational needs
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with data engineers and data scientists, project managers to deliver high quality solutions
- Ensures there is a collegiate culture focused on delivery, excellence and mutual support
- Lead the exploration of new approaches for data analytics and reporting
The successful applicant will be required to work 75 hours per fortnight.
SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE
It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to receive a waiver.

Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the Key Accountabilities of attached Position Description Form.
Whilst applicants are not required to address the Essential Work Related Requirements of this position as a separate document, it is important that applicants are able to satisfy the ‘context’ requirement in relation to Technical Leadership and Capability and Leadership and Management within the CV and cover letter. These are integral requirements to the role(s) and will hold considerable weighting when determining whether an applicant is competitive.
The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.
Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.
OTHER CONDITIONS
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.
Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
