About the Role
Perth’s Public Transport Authority is transitioning through to an exciting phase of expansion and change and we need Communications Systems Technicians to meet current and future demands. We are seeking applications from suitably experienced trade qualified candidates to carry out routine procedures and fault rectification procedures to maintain an effective and efficient level of operational performance on the various Communications Systems and associated equipment on the PTA’s network and the integration of train control systems, field signalling and telecommunications systems. Candidates with rail experience will be highly considered.
COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS TECHNICIANS must be available to work at moderate heights as well as confined spaces; have the ability to participate in a call-out roster and work unsociable hours on occasion at short notice; and must have a current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
About You
To be successful in this position you must have:
- ACMA Open Cabler Registration with endorsements in fibre optics, structured and coaxial cabling.
- Relevant trade qualification or equivalent and/or demonstrated experience in the below listed communications systems.
- Considerable experience and demonstrated ability in the maintenance and fault findings of communications systems equipment including some of the following:
- UHF Base station, Mobile and Portable Radio equipment
- High Density Microwave Radio Link System
- Data communications/transmission systems including multiplexes and modems
- Public Address equipment
- DC Power Systems
- Telephone Systems
- PLC, SCADA and telemetry systems
- Earthing & Lightning protection systems Power Supplies
- Copper Cable communication systems
- Optic Fibre and associated equipment
- Commercial or Industrial CCTV Systems
- Analogue & Digital Recording equipment
- Video Multiplexing & Control Systems, and
- Perimeter & Intruder/Tamper Security systems
