Newman is the gateway to the Western Desert and Australia’s Largest Shire. Lying 15km North of the Tropic of Capricorn, Newman is a real oasis in the outback, it is sometimes referred to as ‘The Heart of the Pilbara’.
Teachers and School Administrators employed at Newman Senior High School in 2023 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $17,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the Role
You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with our enthusiastic and capable staff who consistently make admirable use of excellent resources and strong community links to deliver an engaging and varied curriculum in a supportive and safe environment. As a member of the teaching team at Newman Senior High School (SHS) you will develop authentic and rich learning tasks, work with students to develop goals, apply a range of instruction and explicit teaching incorporating current and emerging technologies to meet the needs of our students.
To be successful, you will ideally be a student and relationship focused teacher who is highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as possessing an engaging teaching style. The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to successfully apply their knowledge of the Home Economics Western Australian Curriculum for Years 7-12.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
