About the role
Curators in the History Department contribute to the development, documentation, management, and interpretation of the Department’s Collection. They carry out research and develop exhibitions and public programmes and conduct significance assessments of material culture related to Western Australian social history. Additionally, Curators contribute to the development of museum policies and procedures and liaise with individuals, community groups and other cultural and research organisations.

The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Develop, document, curate and manage History collections using museum database systems.
- Research and develop public programmes related to Western Australian social history, particularly exhibitions.
- Undertake significance assessments of material culture.
- Facilitate appropriate access to History collections and information, and represent the WA Museum in community and professional networks.
- Train and supervise volunteers and practicum students.

Eligibility to Apply
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have:
- A valid working Visa (for fixed-term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a Visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application; and
- A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment (as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy).
We also require the following:

Pool Recruitment
This Pool will be open for a period of 18 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed-term, full-time, and part-time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
Applicants found suitable in this Pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies with the WA Museum for the duration of the pool.
