Lathlain Primary School (PS) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic leader for the role of Deputy Principal to join their friendly team.
The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and model a positive approach to student learning. The ability to think, plan strategically, and identify innovative and practical solutions to challenges and opportunities will be highly regarded. We are seeking an agile leader who is flexible, willing to take on new portfolios and work collaboratively.
To be considered for this leadership position the successful applicant should have the capacity to develop others and the ability to work collaboratively to ensure quality procedures and outcomes. The successful applicant should also have the ability to analyse and review school performance data and interrogate lines of inquiry to inform evidence-based and well-managed change.
The successful applicant should have expertise and leadership in the development, implementation, and monitoring of systemic and sustainable School-wide strategic plans that ensure that students have the academic skills necessary to be successful at school, work, and further education. You should have the ability to lead the development and of current and subsequent Business Plans, drive whole-school initiatives such as leadership development, whole-school professional development, and staff well-being. It is desirable for the successful applicant to lead and manage the workforce management plan, staffing and recruitment processes, staff leave, complaints management and performance development.
Lathlain PS caters for students in Kindergarten to Year Six and provide academic, social, physical and emotional well-being for our students. Our staff work with parents, carers and families to maximise opportunities for each student to reach their potential. These relationships are valued and are important partnerships that support a positive and nurturing learning environment.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
